Technical note on HASP HL keys

Simulogic software is protected by Aladdin HASP HL hardware keys (dongles). This document outlines the installation procedure for these keys and possible technical issues.

If your software was shipped with HASP HL hardware key, the HASP drivers need to be installed before the software can be used.

HASP installation files can be found on your instllation media (folder hasp-install). In addition, HASP installation files are located in the hasp-srm directory inside your installed product directory.

Specific instructions for each of the supported platforms are provided below.

Windows

HASP drivers installation is handled by the product installer. No additional action is needed. If driver installation fails for any reason, the manual installer (haspdinst.exe) can be found in the hasp-srm directory inside your installed product directory.

Please make sure that HASP drivers are properly installed, and supplied HASP key (dongle) is attached to the USB port of your computer at all times while Simulogic software is being used.

Mac OS X

HASP drivers need to be manually installed before the product can be used. We supply the disk image installer (HASP_SRM_RTE_Installer.dmg) that can be found in the hasp-srm directory inside your installed product directory. Mount the installer by double clicking on the .drm file, and follow the on screen instructions.

Please make sure that HASP drivers are properly installed, and supplied HASP key (dongle) is attached to the USB port of your computer at all times while Simulogic software is being used.

Linux

HASP drivers need to be manually installed before the product can be used. We supply the installer script (/HASP_SRM_LINUX_Installer_Scripts/dinst) that can be found in the hasp-srm directory inside your installed product directory. To install drivers:

  1. Become root
  2. Run "./dinst ."
  3. Verify that the key is correctly installed by pointing your browser to http://localhost:1947 and clicking on "HASP Keys"

On some modern Linux distributions /proc/bus/usb needs to be manually mounted, and /etc/init.d/aksusbd restart issued before the key can be used.

You can also add the following line:
none /proc/bus/usb usbfs defaults 0 0
to /etc/fstab to mount /proc/bus/usb automatically.

Please make sure that HASP drivers are properly installed, and supplied HASP key (dongle) is attached to the USB port of your computer at all times while Simulogic software is being used.
